Fantastic essay, Ruby! (and I have to wonder if you've ever read BLUEBEARD, by Kurt Vonnegut? I had some Armenian friends growing up in the northeast, but that was my first introduction to learing about the genocide.) Thanks to Alicia for making a space for this writing.

This was a fabulous article. I enjoyed the cultural connection and food's role in preserving identity. Thanks for opening the door to writers like Ruby - it is such a breath of fresh air to read the words of writers I may not have previously known.
