Grappling with my presence on social media has been weighing heavily on me too this week. On one hand, I spend a lot of time fretting (scheming) about ways to “advertise” my writing: should I be making tiktoks? Should I be posting gorgeous, carefully curated photos on Instagram all week? It sounds like a lot of work that I frankly don’t have time for, and knowing myself, I know how much being on social media leaves my brain drained and unable to concentrate on deeper thoughts that are critical for long form writing. It’s very frustrating having to be your own advertiser on platforms that insist on selling you something.
I ordered the Cuba book and can’t wait to join the book club next month:)

It’s so hard to deal with, especially now as algorithms favor the folks whose “content” is their whole thing. Promotion gets buried.
