Amazing piece! When I moved back to the Finger Lakes region this year I was so excited to see how mushrooms are really venerated around in the local food scene, including a local company that distills spirits from mushrooms! I haven't tried all of their wares but I had a STUNNING and deliciously savory martini made with their shiitake vodka. So glad you mentioned Mushroom at the End of the World -- it's a marvelous book. We're anxiously awaiting the beginning of morel season here in Montana, but since the snow is only just melting, probably another few weeks.
