I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for your work. I graduated from Hyde Park in 2006. I completely idolized Bourdain, I wanted to be in his band of pirates. I worked at The Park Avenue Cafe, I lived in Brooklyn. I worked a 109 hours in a week one time when a sous walked out. The accountant had to tell my chef to send me home for two days. I'm now at a point in my life where I have to undo the toxic masculine traits I worshipped for so many years. I grew up in an Irish Catholic household so talking about our feelings and having open lines of communication weren't exactly priorities in our family. So at the age of 40, I reference the 5 agreements on a daily basis and I look forward to reading about your perspective on life in general. I wish you continued success in your writing and always look forward to what's next.
This comment means so, so much to me, Michael. I'm so glad you're undoing what hasn't served you—& I know something of the Irish Catholic household 😅 wishing you well
Timely. I just sold my collection on Ebay. I loved Lucky Peach in the beginning, but sort of outgrew it. I will treasure the access it gave me and the impetus to look for more quality writing on food.
