Pithy and tart, this one is! Seriously though- I am redoing my kitchen. There are some things that I can do that are relatively simple, and come from my own experience of working on film and theater sets. And there are fiddly things, difficult things, that I have to admit to myself "you know what, you need an expert, and you need to PAY, and that's fine." So it is with cooking and gardening- I know the care I put into my own garden, my own ingredients, how I consciously seek out herbs that are not mass grown to grow. I know my friends mean well when they want me to open a restaurant and I know that I could not charge for my care and people simply could not - would not- afford it.

I went to the Brooklyn Museum last week when I was in NYC and I loved the Lorraine O’ Grady exhibit.
