Pretty much everything is a potential Great Glass Elevator to somewhere else, if we choose to take the trip. Visual arts tell us what it looks like there, music what it sounds like, words what it feels like, gardens what it smells like, and food what it tastes like. All of these tools of preservation used to harness moments, like jams and jellies and summer veggies put away for the winter, by those who are not just willing but compelled to share with the rest of us over time.
