High five to paywalling. I think it says that you respect your own writing and see its value. And knowing that a lot of writers look up to you, I also think that it expresses to them to do the same. Cannot wait for the book!
I mean, Iโve always valued my work; itโs the readers who have read without subscribing while having the means who havenโt valued it. I think the narrative on what a paywall means is skewed. If I hadnโt proven the worth of my work many times over, I wouldnโt paywall, and I find expensive paywalls for individual writers absurd. But this is just me lol โ I donโt think people should paywall everything out of the gate.
Oh I know you've always valued your work :) And don't get me started on the ridiculousness of every single person needing to have an annual subscription rate to make things work. But I think writers like who regularly vocalize why it's important to value creative work (whether that's through monetary value or otherwise) is essential, so I am grateful for it.
Youโre right! Sorry I get weird about the whole thing because itโs frustratingโI like to work in public but I can no longer sustain it because media at large no longer functions to make up the difference
Happy almost 5 yr anniversary! Canโt wait to read the new book. And $30/yr is a STEAL for access to FTDOAK.

I mean, it's a weird landscape! I think we all feel weird about it in some way shape or form.
